The old time fisherman will go way out on the gravel flats this time of year and look for the walleye hanging out there. They will look for shad balls and spoon around them or spoon around the blips on their fish finder screens.CRAPPIE- The crappie fishing is good. They are still coming in on small minnows, small jigs and small tube baits. Look around the sunken brush piles or standing timber in 30 to 40 foot of water.CATFISH- he catfish are being caught on jug lines and trot lines off the main lake pockets and coves around brush piles and stumps. They are mostly feeding at night, however some day fisherman are catching them on night crawlers in 30 to 40 feet of water.TROUT- There was a lot of trout caught on Bull Shoals Lake this last week. They are trolling spoons around the bluffs and deep water in the Bull Shoals Dam area and doing quite well. Most of the trout are in 55 to 65 feet of water.Updated 03/18/04 Lake Elevation at Normal Pool: 500.0 Temperature: Release Rate: 908 Level: 5.76 feet low Largemouth Bass No Report White Bass No Report Crappie No Report Smallmouth Bass No Report Spotted Bass No Report Catfish fair at night using worms Bluegill No Report Updated 03/18/04 Lake Level: Report by: The Bait Stop CLOSED Channel Catfish No Report Crappie No Report Largemouth Bass No Report Updated 03/19/04 Temperature: Level: normal Sunfish No Report Largemouth Bass No Report Crappie No Report Catfish slow (Below Urich)

Level: 5.51 feet low Report by Missouri Angler Missouri Angler Buddy Bass Derby According to AmerenUE the current lake level is 654.78 and the water temperature taken at Bagnell Dam is 44 degrees. AmerenUE reports there will be heavy generation for the next three days which will give the lake a level of 654.3 by Friday, March 19th. Because Truman Lake is 7 or 8 feet above normal pool, there has been heavy generation causing the lake to get muddy and bass fishing great. The majority of the lake has visibility ranging from 0 to 1 foot, but there are some areas in the larger creeks and tributaries that have some clearer water. The mouth of the Grand Glaize is clearer, but gets dirtier around Party Cove. Some of the creeks and coves in the Gravois and Big and Little Niangua are have cleared some with visibility ranging from 1 to 3 feet. The surface water temperature ranges between 44 and 57 degrees. The warmer water is in the creek arm pockets and towards the back of the creeks and coves. There still hasn't been any sign, if any, of a good shad kill this year. LARGEMOUTH BASS - EXCELLENT Bass fishing has improved 100% since last weeks report and a lot of big fish, 4 to 6 pounds have been brought to the scales. The best bite has been the Wiggle Wart (Brown Craw, Firetiger or any Chartreuse color), the jig n trailer (Black, Black/Chartreuse and Black/Blue) and Chomper (Black/Blue). The bass are shallow, 1 to 6 feet, on large chunk rock banks, secondary points, points of small creek arm pockets and bluff ends, and brush doesn't seem to be a factor. The spinnerbaits (White, White/Chartreuse and Chartreuse w/gold or copper blades has been producing on the windy chunk rock banks and in the pockets. The suspended jerkbait, Lucky Craft or Smithwick Rouge, will produce in the clearer water, but has really slowed down compared to the crankbait and jig n trailer. The most consistent area has been above the Hurricane Deck Bridge and in the Big and Little Niangua Rivers.SPOTTED BASS (KENTUCKY) - SLOW A few spots over 14 inches are being caught, but not many. The spots are still averaging 12 to 13 inches and are being caught on the same baits used for the largemouth.CRAPPIE - FAIR Very few crappie are being caught and are coming off brush piles near main lake points and in bluff cuts in 8 to 12 feet of water. Minnows are the best bait tipped with Crappie Nibbles.CATFISH -SLOW A few blues and channels are being caught in the creeks on jugs baited with cut shad and shrimp.Updated 03/18/04 Lake Elevation at Normal Pool: 791.0 Temperature: Inflow: 85 cfs Outflow: 84 cfs Level: 0.73 feet high Channel Catfish No Report Flathead No Report Walleye No Report Crappie No Report Largemouth Bass No Report Bluegill No Report White Bass No Report Updated 03/18/04 Lake Elevation at Normal Pool: 891.0 Temperature: Inflow: 30 cfs Outflow: 80 cfs Level: 0.58 feet low Mouse Creek at Longview Lake has a new gate and the area will be closed at 9:00 p.m. and will not reopen until 8:00 a.m. All fisherman need to have their vehicles out of the area by 9:00 p.m. or their vehicles could be locked in for the night and/or ticketed. Say 20' of water 10' deep. Some are being taken in the deeper water where you would find them during the winter. They seem to be scattering some. You have to move around some to catch a limit. Jigs and minnows as usual are the best. The water is muddy if you go into the arms or up the river very far. Darker colored jigs are the best. BASS: Poor: No report We hope one will be caught soon. CATFISH: Good Worms, shad sides, or shad guts are all catching fish. The Platte and Little Platte rivers are also producing some fish since the rains. When it rains the fish move into the backs of the creeks and fishing can be great. The normal areas would be to fish the mouths of the coves in the little Platte river arm of the lake. Start at the mouth and work your way back till you find the fish. WHITE BASS: Some are being caught along with the crappie at the marinas. WALLEYE: They have arrived!! Some walleye are starting to be caught along the face of the dam. I have talked to a couple of guys who each said they caught a couple of nice fish on 3-16. There will be a new moon on the 20th of March and a full moon on the 5th of April. Look for fishing to be improving between these dates. The fish should start moving to the face of the dam between these dates. Catfish poor Updated 03/18/04 Lake Elevation at Normal Pool: 915.0 Temperature: 43 - 47 Release Rate: 40 cfs. Level: 0.17 feet low Report by: Pete's Professional Guide Service WATER LEVEL - 915.12 Normal Pool 915' Lots of things happening on Table Rock since the rains this past week. Fish are scattered and they are biting from the backs of creeks to main lake points. The backs of most of the creeks warmed up 5-7 degrees after the warm rains. MAIN LAKE - DAM, KIMBERLING CITY, BAXTER & CAMPBELL POINT & SHELL KNOB Try fishing crankbaits or spinnerbaits in the backs of the creeks and pockets in the morning. Wigglewarts, Bombers, & Shad Raps, in crawfish patterns or Fire Tiger in the stained areas. Try slow rolling 3/8-1/2 oz. Colorado willow leaf blades in the same areas. If there are too many leaves & debris in these areas try pitching Team Supreme or Eakins Jig around the rock transitions. In these same areas stickbaits will catch fish from main lake points & bluffends to the back of creeks on channel swings over submerged timber. Bites are few and far between but they are quality fish. Experiment with different colors depending on the water clarity, shad patterns work best in clear water, with orange belly-darker baits in stained water. Fish 3"-4" grubs in smoke, or salt & pepper 10'-15' deep on main lake and secondary points. These fish are suspended over 20'-50'. Split shot rigged worms or Twin Tailed Chompers - green pumpkin, or watermelon on jig heads in 15'-20'. The bite is slow but is getting better daily as the water warms up and the fish get ready to move into their spawning areas. LONG CREEK & JAMES RIVER The same patterns working with spinnerbaits and crankbaits working better because of the stained water and warm run off that has come in the past few days. On warm days the same baits are working in the Mid James area, the further up you go the water has more color and jigs and crankbaits working best. Try slow rolling 1/2 oz. Chartreuse & White spinnerbaits around visible cover, Colorado-Willow leaf combinations, or Colorado blade-single spin.
