Level: 1.73 feet low Updated 5/07/04 Report by: Littlefield Sporting Goods Submitted By: Greg Lamb Bass- With the majority of the bass in the post spawn phase, the crank baits are the hottest bait this week. The Bomber 6A and 7A crankbait has by far been the most popular among tournament anglers. Bandit and Berkley Frenzy crank baits are catching fish as well. There are a lot of drop baits that are catching fish and the Eakins jig, Lake Fork Creature, Hart Shocker tube, and Zoom Brush Hog have been the hottest. The main lake and secondary points are where the fish seem to be the most abundant. The bushes, willows, and flooded trash are producing some fish for now. Crappie- Crappie are biting this week just about every where. The boat docks and bridge piers are producing consistent numbers and size all over the lake. Minnows seem to be the favorite bait this week, but Grandpa's jigs tipped with Berkley crappie nibbles is always a deadly duo. Catfish- Catfish are biting well all over the lake. Jug liners and trot liners continue to haul in lots of good catches. Rod and reeler's are seeing real good action as well. Shad in all forms is still the bait to use. White bass- The whites are back!! The white bass are biting in the Elk river arm and the Horse Creek area. Most anglers are using jigging spoons and catching them deep, but there are some white bass surfacing in Duck Creek. Carp and Gar- Get your bow and arrows out the carp and gar have started spawning. The Cleora flats and the back of Horse Creek are loaded with spawner's. Large Buffalo are up shallow in about every cove on Grand.
