lake level as of 5/24/04 is 743.77, there is full generation and no flood gates open.
Bass- The water continues to slowly fall this week, and is starting to clear as well. Crankbaits are still the top baits. The Bomber 7A is still the top choice for most anglers, while the Berkley Frenzy and Bandit are the other preferred crankbaits. The boat docks are getting hotter every day with more and more fish moving in. The Carolina riggers are starting to get some bites now with the bass in post spawn and the water continuing to fall. The Zoom Brushhog is the best bait for this.
Crappie-Crappie are biting this week just about everywhere. There are still crappie biting on the bank on the lower end of the lake. The slabs are biting on the boat docks in the mid-lake area. Minnows seem to be the favorite bait this week, along with chartreuse Berkley crappie nibblits.
Catfish-Catfish are biting well all over the lake. Jug liners and trot liners continue to haul in lots of good catches. Rod and reeler's are seeing real good action as well. Shad in all forms is still the bait to use.
Whitebass- The whites are back!! The whitebass are biting in the Elk River arm and the Horse Creek area. Most anglers are using jigging spoons and catching them deep, but there are some whitebass surfacing in Duck Creek.
