lake level as of 4/4/05 is 742.41, there is no generation and no flood gates are open.
Bass- The warmer weather and warming water have the bass really biting. Spinnerbaits are the hot bait this week from Honey Creek to Twin Bridges. Rogues and Lucky Crafts are still producing a few fish but are slowing down. Jigs are doing their job behind docks and on chuck rock banks. Crankbaits are catching more fish with the bass not suspending as much.
Crappie- This week brings more good crappie reports. The crappie are starting to stage around the docks preparing for the spawn. The best catches are coming off the docks from the middle to the fronts of the coves. The main lake is still producing good catches on the breaks and brush. The fish are biting at different times on different parts of the lake, so go when you can and hope its at the right time. The depth has been rather sporadic, with the fish biting 4 feet one day and 18 feet the next. The crappie are moving a lot right now so be sure to try at all depths at your favorite slab spot. Minnows or jigs are working well, so be sure to give them both a try. There haven't been any reports of any crappie being caught up on the banks, but it won't be long!
Catfish- The catfish are starting to bit in the rivers. There are still several nice cats being caught off the docks in the fronts of the coves, cut perch and shad are being used for bait.
Whitebass- They are catching some really nice whitebass up the Spring and Neosho Rivers. The whites are being caught on the swallow sides of the channel swings.
Spoonbill(paddlefish)- The spoonbill are on the move! Neosho River came up a little and the first small river run happened this week . There were several spoonbill caught at the Riverview Park in Miami OK., mostly small males. They are snagging spoonbill up both rivers right now trolling from boats. The next good river rise should spark a pretty heavy run, the kind that includes some big sows.
