Level: 2.91 feet low Updated 08/05/05 Report by: Littlefield Sporting Goods Above Sailboat bridge- stained lake level as of 8/2/05 is 744.61 there are no units of generation and no flood gates are open. Bass- The weather has finally offered us a few cold fronts and some cooler temps, and the bass continue to bite. The Carolina rig is producing the better fish. Brush hogs and lizards are the riggers bait choice. The Berkley 10" power worm and Eakins jig are producing well on boat docks and in the brush around docks. The top water bite is starting to come on as well, with the Hart Ticker buzz leading the way. Crappie- The crappie are biting better this week despite the heat. The docks are the hot spot right now. The baby shad are in large schools all over the lake, and they are all around the docks in most coves. Crappie are biting from 4 ft to 15 ft. and at different times of the day. Whites, grays, and pinks are the hottest jig colors. Catfish- The cats are biting well all around the lake, from shallow to deep. Juggers are catching good numbers on shad all over the lake. Limb liners are doing real well up the Neosho River. Green sunfish and shad are the baits of choice. White bass- The white bass in the lake have moved out and are biting the jigging spoons. They are starting to surface feed in parts of Horse Creek and Elk River. Small crankbaits and Firecracker grubs are producing the best.
