Friday, May,27th. Stopped at Green Acres at Pomona to get minners at 7AM and talked to several fishers. All of us were confused to where the bite was at since the high water. Arrived at Melvern at 7:30. SHOCKED as how muddy the lake was. It was still 5ft high and releasing 2500 gpm. As I'm looking for brush piles,,,they are 20ft and deeper. Still, I dropped minners into them. Not a bite. Went up lake to Arrow Rock area, still looking at the deep brush. NO BITES!! I decided to try some shallow areas and did catch some small crappies in less than 2ft. As I was slow trolling the bank and casting to it, I was also fishing the outside in 8ft with 2 jigs with minners down 6ft. WHAM!!! a goodun!! Moved out to 8ft and started slow trolling 2 rods with jigs/minners. THIS WAS THE TRICK!!! Got a limit in just 3 hours. VERY slow bite as they would just nibble at the minner before they would take it. If the minner wasn't lively, they wouldn't hit it. Saturday, had my clients on fish as soon as we got into the 8ft depth. Same way!! Not only did they catch plenty of crappies,,,WALLEYES!!!. They also were casting Road Runners to the bank and caught Smallies!! Up to 3lbs. Not a bad day to say the least. 90% of the crappies caught were over 10inches. Walleyes were around 20inches. Looks like I'll be back there again this weekend. It's only 2ft high now. Hope it clears up by then!! <*)}}}><
