Clinton & Perry Lakes

I have been fishing both these lakes the last few weekends. Brush-piles at both lakes are loaded with crappies ready to hit just about anything that gets near them. Keeper/dink ratio about 50/50. The trees at Perry have been producing better ratios. Dropping jigs next to the trees at depths of 4 to 8ft tipped with a crappie nibble working just fine. If not add a minner. Clinton just about the same but,,,the fish are larger. Lots of shad on the surface on both lakes. If ya wanna see some very large gar,,, go into the Slough Creek arm at Perry. You'll see then rolling on the surface. This time of year, "ALWAYS" look at the clairity of the water. Algae blooms, some brown, staining the water. The first few days of this really turn off the bite. They get used to it and will start biteing again. As always,,,USE SUNSCREEN!!!! Wash your hands real good so you don't transfer the sunscreen to your plastics. Crappie don't like any of that stuff. Good fishing to all. <*)}}}><

Jack, both lakes were hot last weekend & I expect it to be the same this weekend, Fish the banks with a bobber/jig combo. Set the jig 12 to 18 inches below the bobber. Cast up to the banks and slowly reel it back to you. The bites are strong & quick. Don't spend a lot of time at any place unless they are hitting. Jig colors that was working was red/chartruse & black/chart. Good luck. I'll be out at Clinton Friday with clients. I'll give a report afterwards. <)}}}><
