frankcon. YES it is a very effective way of catching crappies. I would 1st suggest getting the 3rd pole permit, rod racks, trolling motor with variable speed and 10ft of 1/2 log-chain tied to 50ft of rope. May not always need to drag the chain but in windy conditions,,,you'll want one. There are some VERY good books by Tim Huffman that explain in detail on spider riggin'. Need more???
