If you think brush-piles are bad,,, wait till you hit a school of white bass!!! A VERY good time to spider is after the spawn as the crappies get on the flats and are scattered. Another time is just before the summer patterns. Run the chanel edges with some on top and some down the breaks. You WILL get snagged up at times. All good rigs have light leaders so they will break when snagged. I have even tilted my front transducer forward to see them BEFORE I get every pole snagged. Most all spider-riggers use live bait and set the hook as the pole bends to the water. Not my way of fishing as I love to feel the bite. Although I do LOVE pulling crankbaits. At least then I see the snags before the cranks get into them. You will learn a lot of the lake pulling as you find brush-piles. Have your GPS handy to mark them. As with all tecniques,,, practice,,,,practice,,,,practice. <*)}}}>< Last changed: 07/24/08 |
