If you have an amp. gauge, try testing your amperage at different speeds and watch for a significant difference. This will indicate how much amperage each speed takes. It could be a slight short. If it's a slight short, could mean a loose or damp connection, a dead short, that means you have wires touching. Probably somewhere in the control unit. Try that and see what happens. If it's still under warranty, take it back to the dealer.
