Updated 06/30/06 Lake Elevation at Normal Pool: 656.0 Temperature: 80's Outflow: 5079 cfs Level: 3.50 feet low Fishing Report by: Wilderness Trail Well, it is summertime, the longest day of the year has come and gone and the heat will be here for a while. It has been in the upper 80’s and low 90’s all week with a little rain, which didn’t amount to much. Generation has been high this week and the lake level dropped a foot, we are now at 653.20, with normal pool being 654.23. We have two thermo clines that have developed. This happens only in a while, so you need to take advantage of the two zones. The first thermo cline is at 28 to 32 feet and the game fish are sitting on the bottom in this zone. The second thermo cline starts at 40 feet and runs to 46 feet. The game fish in this zone are suspended between 28 to 32 feet, now we have a pattern. Water temperature continues to warm and the surface temperature is now at 82 degrees in the morning, warming to 84 degrees by late afternoon. Crappie are biting on the brush piles and are on the bluff walls, but you have to move from spot to spot to catch one here and there. Bobby Garland Swimming Minnows and Crappie tubes are working the best. Largemouth bass are hard to find during the day, which is normal for this time of year. Top water in the mornings will trigger a few in the back of the creeks and pockets throughout the lake. Zara Spooks, Sammy’s and buzz baits are the key lures. Throughout the day work Carolina rigs or football jigs in the thermo cline over drop offs. Small mouth bass are scattered, some are on points, some are on flats and some are just suspended out over absolutely nothing. You are not going to catch a lot of keepers but when you hit the right bank or point you can trigger the smaller Small mouth on tubes and Spider Jigs. The keeper smallies can be caught in deeper water on Carolina rigs with Yum Wooly Hawgs, finesse worms and brush hogs. Football jigs are also starting to trigger the deeper smallies. Peanut butter and jelly and brown/purple have been the best colors. Kentucky bass have been hard to catch this week because they are full of shad. We can find Kentucky's on bluff wall ends, in the middle of cuts and off main lake points, but they are under schools of shad and not very hungry. Drop shot rigs and spoons are you best lure and technique for triggering a strike. Walleye have been very active this week with a number of limits being caught. They are in the thermo cline zone, which makes them a little easier to find. Night crawlers and leeches are working well on harnesses with bottom bouncers in the 28 to 32 foot range. Lead core trolling has been the hot technique this week pulling small baits, both in the 28 to 32 foot range and in the 40 to 46 foot range. Some baits that have been effective are Glass Shad, Hot’N Tots, Wiggle Warts and Deep Little Rippers. Long liners that are not using lead core have been catching a few on Bandit Walleye Diver, Deep Diving Rogues and Mann’s 20+ diving baits. NIGHT TIME: Tough bite is the best way to explain this last week. Until it is the dark the bite is not there. From 9 to midnight the bite picks up on points and brush piles. Best baits are Gene Larew strawberry/gold or black neon worms, jig and pigs and Hula grubs. Fishing for trout on the White River has been doing well. With low or no generation Berkley Power Eggs in yellow, white and pink have worked well along with red worms. With generation the Buoyant Spoons, Little Cleos and Countdown or Floating Rapalas are the baits of choice. The fly fishermen have done extremely well with little generation on olive Woolly Bugger, Zebra Midges and sow bugs.. The Brown trout are being caught on Shad Raps, suspending rogues, Flat Fish and night crawlers. Remember to keep only what you can eat and release the rest for another day. The lake is about 4.8 feet over normal, dingy in the upper branches, clearer in the lower lake. Crappie - Summer pattern. On the edge of deeper water, about 12 - 18 feet deep. Large trees, clumps of trees, bridge piers. If you can find isolated submerged trees, then you probably have found a good spot. Minnows or jigs. Try trolling through the areas mentioned above. Don't stay in one place too long, if you're not catching anything. Bass fishing has been slower this week. A lot of bass are still being caught, but they been on the smaller size. You can read about bass tournament results at the MAO web site. The preliminary list for this years Bud-Lite tournament is now available on the Mark Twain Lake Chamber of Commerce web site. Cat fishing has been tougher. It's been slow and the catfish being caught have been mostly channels and small. The White Bass fishing has been very good, using in-line spinner baits (like rooster tails), shad raps or silver spoons. Concentrate on areas of the lake where there are underwater humps, old road beds or long shallow points. Look for shad busting the water, throw a lure into it and get ready for action. Don't be surprised if you also happen to hook into a walleye or two. Updated 06/30/06 Temperature: Crappie No Report Bass No Report

The fish have moved into their summer patterns but the big fish have not showed up yet. Fish standing timber in the arms and ledges with cover on the main lake. 12' to 20' of water but the depth the fish are at varies. Minnows are working best. BASS: Still Good to Excellent: The bass tournaments are going well with numbers of fish being caught considerably up from past years. You can fish two basic patterns. Fish the grass on the main lake or fish tree rows in the arms of the lake above the bridges. In either case the fish are fairly shallow. (less than 8') No one bait seems to be that much better than the others. Worms, brush hogs, shallow crank baits and some top water. CATFISH: Good: The cats are spawning or have spawned already. Lots of nice fish are being caught shallow and on trot lines. Bait varies depending on how you want to fish. Most baits are working well if put in the right place. White Bass: Poor: I don't know where the whites are but they are hiding good. I am catching a few here and there but nothing consistent and no big ones. WALLEYE: Fair: The walleye are becoming more numerous on the main lake points. Use # 5 or #7 shad raps and fish from 2' deep the 10' deep. A 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig head tipped with a crawler or leech will also produce fish. Lake Taneycomo Trout I'm catching some nice rainbows and a few browns on a small Rapala in the morning and also swimming a white 1/16 ounce jig. The trout in the trophy area will also take pink or green micro jigs under a float and a zebra midge has also been very good. Below the trophy are from Fall Creek down, the trout are biting very good on night crawlers or power baits. In the early morning you can catch them swimming a 1/16 ounce jig or little Cleo spoon, in line spinners are also good in the mornings. Updated 06/30/06 Temperature: Level: Report by River Run Outfitters GENERAL COMMENTS Lots of time to wade, however, they are still running something every afternoon, usually starting around 4:00 p.m, but has started as early as 1:00 p.m. Monday, it was 1 at 5:00 p.m. Water Conditions: Water really clear. Running something every afternoon. Table Rock Lake is still a little above pool (915.0). FLY FISHING TROPHY AREA (dam to Fall Creek)-SHALLOW WATER-WADING- Boats out all week. Fishing in the mornings, especially from 8:00 a.m. to about 10:30 a.m. is still pretty slow. Had several all days trips out this week so after we fished the Rocking Chair area for a little while and found it to be very slow, we started moving down toward the KOA area. Deeper water so we changed over to the red tunghead midge. Started picking up fish pretty regularly starting just below the KOA narrows and all the way through to the Pointe area. The bank opposite the KOA area fished best. Just above the island at the Pointe, we switched over the the KOA side and caught several nice fish there. There is a little jut of land which comes out there and we had shore lunch there. The guys were able to get out and fish here while we fixed lunch. After lunch we drifted on down to the island, got out and fished the Primrose & Pearl midge the rest of the afternoon. Most of the fish were in the 10-14 inch range. It was Alan's birthday, so we finished the day off with a nice 17-3/4 inch Rainbow for him. I had the same two guys out Wednesday and it was pretty much the same scenario. This day our numbers were at least 60 fish to the boat. Lots of misses. Yesterday I had a half day out and just headed for the Pointe. Caught 20 plus fish, but it was much more hit and miss than Wednesday. Red midge through KOA and Primrose and Pearl at the Pointe. A few of our customers have been catching some nice fish on a black ant in the area between outlets 1 and 2, and the bank opposite outlet 2 all the way down to the narrows just above the rebar hole. Still resorting to 7X tippet if I see the fish refusing flies. STAN'S TIP: Sun lotion, sunglasses (polarized) and lots of water right now. Weather has been in the upper 80s and low 90s. Stay hydrated! We know from the North Platte about staying hydrated. Was not out there (90s) and we drank tons of water. Still washed out by the time we got off the water. RUMAN LAKE Updated 06/30/06 Inflow: 3000 cfs Outflow: 6042 cfs Level:
0.77 feet high
Lake Level: 706.68 Happy 4th. of July !! The fishing continues to improve here on Truman. The crappie are still a little slow, but the whites are starting to pick up a little and the bass and the catfish remain good. With the holiday weekend up on us please drive with care on and off the water. Fireworks will be shot off the dam Saturday night. BASS: Big worms on points in 8' to 12' of water is the best bite. Watermelon red or plum are the top colors. The Sweet Beaver is still working also. Juicy and watermelon red are the better colors. The is a suspended bite starting in the outside tree rows in about 12'. Jig and frog and the beaver are catching fish here. Last nights hawg fights took 11.15 lbs with Ernie Cox and Russell Beck the winners. Second went to Randy and Jim Lutjen with 8.94 lbs. and big bass of 4.46 lbs. CRAPPIE: These fish are still on the outside tree rows in 12' to 17' of water. Fish the trees that are just starting to come out or just under the surface. Minnows are the best bait. There are some good brush pile fish starting to hit. Look for piles in 15' to 20' of water. WHITES & HYBRIDS: The whites are starting to surface a little more each week. The cemetery has been the hot spot this week right before dark. Road runners and 2" grubs are the best baits working now. There are a few spoon fish hitting when they are running water. Check O 3 and the weir. The small spoons seem to be working the best. There is a rumor going on around here that Roger Pihl is too cheap to buy a good graph so he has been jumping out of the boat and looking for them that way so if you are out fishing and see someone in the lake looking for whites just stop' pick him up and put him back in his boat. CATFISH: Trot lines are still working good. Shallow sets in 4' to 6' of water baited with leeches or black perch are the top baits, Fish the flats that are next to deep water. That's it for this week from Steret Creek Marina Have a safe holiday. Tommy Berry Bend (Osage Arm) Updated 06/16/06 Lake Temp: Report by: Trailside General Store
Here at Berry Bend we have a good bite working for Crappie.
In the early morning hours nice size crappie are being taken on the flats
and shallow lake points. Later in the day, fishing around cedars and
hardwoods in 20 feet of water seem to work best.
There have also been nice catches of both White Bass and Hybrids, they seem to prefer live bait jigged vertical. Lots of catfish are being caught , with the
favorite method being jug lines fished over the flats. People seem to be having
luck with all types of bait, including hot dogs, leeches, and gold fish. The crappie are on the flats in 12 ft of water or more and catching them 10 ft deep. The best approach is to look for the isolated trees or the fence rows. Fish all the trees you can using minnows. We are seeing lots of good fish come in. Catfish are being caught on cut bait on the flats. Fish the flats in 10 ft of water fishing 6 ft deep. You can catch fresh shad for bait. Most fish coming in are blucats and channel cats. White bass are schooling early and late in the dam area. Use any thing that resembles a shad and you can catch them. The best bite is early and late. If you get a cloudy day you can catch them all day. Black Bass, The best bite is on the flat points early using a buzz bait. As the day goes on switch to a 8" black neon worm and fish the same points but move out some. * New Missouri regulations require that jug lines be attended at all times unless anchored.
