Missouri Angler Buddy Bass Derby Results 2013

July 01
WEDNESDAY NITE CHAMPS-----BILL DAVENPORT AND JIM ROBBINS --- 11.69 POUNDS

Tonight was the final Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament of year and the 49 teams who qualified struggled through the stormy night and rain, as well as the tough night bite that has plagued Lake of the Ozarks the last few weeks. The water temperature at take off was 78-79 degrees and the water clarity was dingy. Most of the bass were caught on a variety baits, plastic worm, tubes, jigs and even some top water before dark in 8 to 15 feet of water. There really wasn't any special pattern or type of structure to catch a bass. Some anglers said they could only get bit in brush while others said they could only get bit on plain banks, but the main consensus was the bite got tougher after dark.

1ST, 2ND AND 3RD PLACE TEAMS WERE TAKEN TO MARTY'S MARINE FOR A POLYGRAPH TEST BY DON ESKEW. DON HAS PROVIDED THIS SERVICE FOR OUR WEDNESDAY NITE TOURNAMENTS FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS! DON AND HIS WIFE WILL BE LEAVING THE LAKE AREA THIS MONTH. WE APPRECIATE YOU ALWAYS BEING AVAILABLE AND DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB! DON, YOU WILL BE TRULY MISSED.

September 01

The Missouri Angler Wednesday night tournament had 48 boats take out of PB#2 at 6:30 P.M. and return for weigh-in at 10:00 P.M. Just like the last few weeks fishing was pretty tough. A lot of the anglers got skunked or caught some dinks, but as usual there were a few that came to the scales with some keepers. A variety of baits, spinner baits, worms, jigs and crank baits caught bass anywhere from 4 feet to 20 feet, in brush and on plain banks. The bass are definitely suspended and spread out chasing the schools of shad, which is making it tough for everyone. Drawings for the September 15th fish-off took place tonight and 49 boats qualified. There is no tournament next Wednesday, September 8th.

The Missouri Angler Wednesday night tournament had 45 boats take out of PB#2 at 6:30 P.M. and weigh-in at 10:00 P.M. As you can see by the weights brought to the scales fishing was pretty tough. There were storms in the area and later on in the evening rain moved in and the wind picked up, which is when a lot of the anglers said they caught their fish. Tonight the 10 inch plastic worm and Brush Hog were the baits that were the most productive. The water temperature was 82-84 degrees and the water clarity clear.

Tonight the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament had 44 teams take out of PB#2 at 6:30 P.M. and return for weigh-in at 10:00 P.M. As you can see by the weights the bass slowed down tonight making it fairly tough for everyone, other than a couple of teams. The temperature at take-off was in the 90's and the humidity was high. With the water temperature at 85 degrees and the lake on a slow fall some of the anglers theorized that those two combinations could be the reason the bite slowed down. The bass that were caught came on 10 and 7 inch plastic worms and the Melton jig n trailer in brush anywhere from 15 to 25 feet.

Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament which began at 6:30 P.M. and ended at 10:00 P.M. had another great turn out of 61 boats taking off at PB#2 The weather was perfect but the bite was slow, but as usual there were some who had no trouble getting a limit. Quite a few of the anglers complained about the slow bite, but as usual there were some who had no trouble getting a limit. The best bite tonight was the plastic worm, Brush Hog and Melton jig n trailer fished in brush behind docks and in brush 15 to 20 feet. Tonight the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night tournament had another good showing with 64 boats. Fishing was a little tougher tonight than usual especially before dark. The bite picked up after dark, however, the only problem was weigh-in started at 10:00 P.M. and that didn't give anyone very much time to night fish, but there were still quite a few solid 3 and 4 pounders being caught. Tonight eleven 4 pounders were brought to the scales and along with two 5 pounders. The plastic worm and Brush Hog was the best bite in brush piles 15 to 20 feet.

Tonight the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament had 64 boats take out of P.B#2 at 6:30 P.M. and return for weigh-in at 10:00 P.M. The weather was hot and humid with a threat of storms all night. The bass were real co-operative and a lot of bass were weighed-in, but the weights were down from the previous tournaments. There were eleven 4 pounders and six 5 pounders brought to the scales and quite a few bass over 3 pounds. The bass were in brush 15 to 20 feet on main lake and secondary points, and most were caught on Texas rigged black/red fleck and June bug 7 and 10 power worms and Brush Hogs. Fishing hasn't slowed down at all and seems to be getting better everyday.

The Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament had 54 boats launch out of P.B #2 at 6:30 P.M. and return for weigh-in at 10:00 P.M. It was drizzling rain at take-off, but within a half hour the rain stopped and the weather began to clear. The water temperature was 78 degrees and the lake is beginning to clear up even though the area had a couple of days of heavy downpours. A lot of fish were caught tonight, but the 4 and 5 pounders were not as active as they were last Wednesday. The best bite was the 10 and 7 inch power worm, Brush Hog Texas rigged and the Chomper on the Chomper head. The bass were in brush piles 10 to 18 feet off channel swings and creek arm points. There were seven bass over 4 pounds and two bass over 5 pounds brought to the scales, which is far less than last weeks weigh-in. It seems bass fishing gets better and better at Lake of the Ozarks. Tonight the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament had 59 boats launching out of PB #2 at 6:30 Pm and weighing in at 10:00 PM. The weather was overcast and the water temperature was 74 degrees. There seemed to be a variety of baits that caught bass, which is evident with seventeen limits weighed in and quite a few four fish bags brought to the scales. The Texas rigged 7 and 10 inch power worm, Brush Hog and the black spinnerbait after dark were the baits that produced the heavy stringers. The bass were spread out in 10 to 15 feet of water and were located on plain chunk rock points and in brush piles. There were thirteen bass over 4 pounds and four bass over 5 pounds brought to the scales.

Despite the rain and stormy weather the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament drew 49 boats and like last week there were a lot of big bass brought to the scales. The water temperature was in the mid 70's and tonight the bass were on a good bite. There were eleven 4 pounders, three 5 pounders and one over 6 pounds weighed in, plus many 3 pounders. The best bite tonight was the jig n trailer, tube bait and the 7 and 10 inch power worm. Most of the bass were caught in 8 to 12 feet of water on the steeper chunk rock banks in the creek arms and Grand Glaize River, and brush was not a factor.

Prior to the tournament there were heavy rains and wind, but just before take-off at 6:30 PM the weather cleared and the bass went nuts. The water temperature averaged 70 to 74 degrees. The bass were hitting tubes, jig n trailer, Brush Hogs, split shot American Fires and Flukes on chunk rock banks and around docks. Some anglers reported they caught bass right on the bank and others in 8 to 12 feet of water. If you didn't have 15 pounds by 10 PM there was no way you had a chance of getting a check.

The bass were in 6 to 12 feet of water and some anglers reported catching bass in shallow brush behind boat docks. The first Missouri Angler Wednesday Night tournament of the year drew 52 boats with 13 five fish limits weighed in, plus several four fish bags were brought to the scales. The bass are still shallow, 4 to 8 feet, and were jumping all over the jig n trailer, tube bait and crankbait.
