Lake Map

Lake Elevation at Normal Pool: 1421.60   Temperature:

Inflow: 1510 cfs Outflow: 236 cfs Level: 0.59 feet high

Zebra Mussels  Zebra mussels can be found attached to rocks lakewide and are expanding their population. Zebra mussel veligers are too small to be seen with the unaided eye and they can be found in boat livewells, minnow buckets, boat bilges, water toys and anything else that is capable of holding even a small amount of water. Be sure to drain all equipment before leaving the lake to avoid moving veligers to other waters. THIS INCLUDES MINNOW BUCKETS, BOAT LIVEWELLS AND BILGES!!!

White Bass  Fair  Up to 16"  Few white bass reports coming in. Most are being caught by anglers trolling crankbaits or sassy shad for walleyes or wipers.

Wiper  Good  Up to 8 lb.  Wiper fishing has been good early on islands and points. Twist-tail jigs and crankbaits have been good baits. Look for exposed rocks on walleye island for a good wiper spot.

Walleye  Fair  Up to 28"  Not many walleye reports coming in although some sub-legal fish have been caught trolling and jigging around islands and points.

Crappie  Fair  Up to 15"  No reports for crappies, but fish will be spread out in deeper water.

Channel Catfish  Fair  Up to 10 lb  Catfishing has been hit and miss on stinkbait and cutbait. Also, some big flatheads are up shallow spawning.

White Perch There are many catchable size white perch (10+") in the lake.

COUNCIL GROVE

     Updated 1/27/2012

Lake Map

Lake Elevation at Normal Pool: 1274.0 Temperature:

Inflow: 40 cfs Outflow: 513 cfs Level: 0.28 feet high

There is a new 20 per day Crappie creel limit and is effective January 1, 2005

Channel Catfish  Fair to Good  up to 5 lb  Drifting nightcrawlers on the flats in water 4 to 10 feet deep.

Saugeye  Fair to Good  Up to 22-inch  Shallow water on shad imitating plastics or crankbaits.

White Bass  Fair to good  12 to 15-inch  Whites are being caught in the creeks and coves on jigs and small inline spinners. Trolling crank baits is producing in the main lake areas.

Wiper  Fair  up to 19-inch  Look for wiper along windblown shorelines and points. Crankbaits are a good bet this time of the year. Trolling will locate active fish then slow down and fish the area thoroughly with jigs or spinners.

White Crappie  Fair  up to 14-inch  Most fish are coming from water 9 to 14 feet deep near breaks and along the dam. Creel limit 20/day  White crappie are looking good for 2011. Density is similar to last year. Although density is below average for the lake, the size structure looks very good with good percentages of larger crappie that anglers prefer. There was good production during the 2010 crappie spawn which provides for continued fishing in future years. Crappie can be caught year around at Council Grove. The crappie spawn is a very popular time for crappie fishing but good fishing can also be had summer, fall, and winter. Ice fishing during times of safe ice can also provide some hot crappie action.
